DIOCESE
“Thank you so much for the opportunity to live without a phone, secular music or alcohol, to experience real joy
and friendship, simplicity of heart… To get to Mass and adoration every day, for our wonderful priests and deacon.
For taking us to the most beautiful shrines and to Steubenville, swimming, skits!”
“This pilgrimage has made great fruits appear in my life…I have been so blessed by these gifts that I have been
struggling to find a good enough way to give thanks. God has worked through the sisters and the trip so beautifully
to me that I will never forget this specific pilgrimage. The luxuries of this trip have also thrown me off a little in
comparison to my previous. I am truly grateful as I now know God’s will for a big part of my life. There haven’t been
any sorrows for me on this pilgrimage. I am grateful for the opportunity for a wakeup call and many sacrifices. One
thing I have noticed in myself through these weeks is an increase in joy for holy things as well as peace that lingers
(possibly because of the great gifts I have been given). I have also experienced a durability for suffering. I very much
enjoyed this year’s pilgrimage, and I feel spiritually ready to go to university and follow the path God has given me
for life. Thank you sisters. Thank you, Our Lady Undoer of Knots.”
And what about parents ...
“We sent our two oldest children (16,13) on the pilgrimage with the Saint Andrew Community this year and it
was a life changing experience for them. They both said they felt closer to God, and they loved the prayer times as
well as the adventures. Upon returning home, we were pleasantly surprised to see them reading their Bible daily,
praying the rosary daily on their own, asking to go to adoration and daily Mass. They both like to listen to rap music,
but after returning from the pilgrimage they have been asking to listen to chant! Their appreciation of sacred music
and the liturgy, including the liturgy of the hours, has dramatically improved, even though we always tried to get
them to appreciate it at home (often unsuccessfully.) Thank you for your tireless work and sacrifices for our kids! We
appreciate all you do so much! Our kids want to return every year!”
Anh Nguyen Tuan's reception of Candidacy
iocese of Aberdeen seminarian, Anh Nguyen Tuan's reception of Candidacy took place on the 24th of
September at a Mass at St Mary's College Oscott where he is studying. The Mass was celebrated by the Most
DRev. Archbishop of Birmingham, Bernard Longley. The Rite for Admission to Candidacy is an important
step for each seminarian on his journey toward the priesthood. The rite is an opportunity for a seminarian to express
publicly his intention to receive the sacrament of Holy Orders as a deacon and later as a priest. It includes three
components: the call to candidacy, the candidate's scrutiny, and the candidate's blessing . Anh is pictured third from
